Our Kindergarten Program
Learning Through Inquiry
Kindergarten students learn through inquiry and play, and take part in a curriculum which includes a mix of learning experiences to develop their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual skills while expanding their knowledge of the world in which they live.
The Kindergarten curriculum includes science with student-led experiments, early literacy, mathematics, art, dance, music, and athletics.
During these activities, students work cooperatively with classmates and in groups. Learning is a social process, when children share knowledge with others, they understand it and remember it.
Students learn and test their skills using hands-on, concrete activities. Learning comes naturally when a child can actually test, try, and engage. Children are active learners, they learn by exploration and problem-solving in a safe environment.
The Kindergarten curriculum is organized into four units of inquiry:
- Who we are
- How we express ourselves
- How the world works
- How we organize ourselves
