A Community Achievement:
$2,420 Raised for the Terry Fox Foundation
Over 600 students and staff participated in this year's Terry Fox Run, raising $2,420 to be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation. Our MYP and DP students ran a two-kilometre course, with some students running as many any eight-kilometres! Our PYP students ran at least one-kilometre—though the course was shortened due to the appearance of a black bear on route.
Donna White, the Provincial Director of the Terry Fox Foundation for BC and the Yukon, kicked off our runs by sharing the story of Terry Fox, the Foundation, and inspiring students with a quote from Douglas Copeland's book, Terry. She also presented Meadowridge with a 20-year banner in recognition of our community's continued support; in our 22 years, Meadowridge has raised over $34,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Meadowridge has supported the Terry Fox Foundation for over 20 years. Over these years, our students and families have helped raise over $34,000 to the Foundation.
Highlights of the day included the Senior Gryphon Council cutting up 400 oranges for our runners, all of which were generously donated by Save-On-Foods; the black bear joining in on a portion of the PYP Run was, of course, another highlight from the day; and, lastly, the vibrant house colours of our runners, who showed their House pride with fun accessories.
Thank you to everyone who brought in their two toonies for Terry and braved the run!
