The Making Of Our Latest Art Installment
Students began by working in pairs to trace their heads in profile. They then sketched their elaborate machines before completing them using a variety of media such as paint, pastels, cut paper, pencil crayons, and felt pens.Grade 5 students used their knowledge of simple machines to create mechanical brains inspired by the cartoons of Rube Goldberg.
Students imagined complex mechanical systems to complete bodily functions such as sneezing, eating, crying, and coughing. Some decided to make machines that activated memories, dreams, and emotions.
