Admission
Guiding Principle

Meadowridge admits only those students that are capable of succeeding in a university preparatory program. All applicants must have the ability to study in an academically rigorous environment, with English as the language of instruction and should aspire to continue their education beyond secondary school. Meadowridge expects all of its students to have a solid grasp of both spoken and written English. Students are expected to write essays, read novels, and actively participate in classroom discussions and extra-curricular activities.

Admission to Meadowridge is to both the family and the child. The decision to offer placement is a complex matter and multiple variables are considered. It is a competitive entry and it must be apparent that the child, family and the school all clearly benefit by enrollment at the school. Admission to Meadowridge is considered to be a privilege. While there is a pragmatic dimension, human judgement is the basis for determining fit but may include the following factors:
  • Determining that we can meet the child's learning needs
  • Extra-curricular involvement
  • Competency in school subjects determined by previous school records or transcripts and the Meadowridge admission testing
  • Parental understanding and support of our philosophy and practices
  • Teacher recommendations
  • Student and/or Parent interview
  • Motivation
  • Interests and goals of the applicant in relation to the programs of study offered by Meadowridge
Meadowridge works to sustain an environment where children of varied backgrounds learn together in an atmosphere of acceptance, respect, and appreciation for each child. We aim to maintain a strong sense of community, to diversify our population, and to foster support for our philosophy of education.
