Class of 2018 Contributions & Achievements

At Meadowridge School, we value our students as well-rounded individuals. They are highly involved in the life of the school, as well as engaged in an academically rigorous programme.

The achievements of our graduates speak to the incredible teaching they have received throughout the PYP, MYP, and DP programmes. They leave us as confident, articulate, highly knowledgeable, caring individuals who are truly ready to embrace challenges outside of these walls and shape their future.

Once again, our graduates have made us incredibly proud. Their achievements are exceptional and go far beyond their performance on exams. They have fully participated in our community and have left an undeniable impression on us. I would like to take a moment to reflect back on their achievements and take the opportunity to recognize them for the amazing group of young people that they are.

Academic Achievements

Diploma Programme Results
4.05% Above World Average

We had 29 students enrolled as Diploma candidates this year. Our Diploma students' average total score was 34 points, which is above the world average of 29.95 (2017 statistic). When looking at the average subject area grade, our students earned a 5.41, which converts to over 90%. Understandably, we are incredibly proud of this achievement!

IB Course Results
85% Average, 100% Honour Roll Standing

Similarly, our IB Course students achieved results that showcase their strong academic abilities with an 85% average. This achievement is outstanding as all of our graduating Course students earned the BC Dogwood Diploma with Honours Standing.

This academic achievement continues a pattern of exceptional results, which has seen our students score above the world average for all of the years that we have offered the IB Diploma curriculum at Meadowridge.

Language
40% of Graduates Earn the DELF or DELE Language Diplomas

Although we will not offer the IB bilingual diploma until 2019, we encourage our students to earn their official qualification from the French or Spanish governments by writing the Diplôme d'études en langue française (DELF) or the Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) tests. In 2018, 40% of our graduates earned a language diploma.

Additionally, our graduates achieved very strong results on the English 12 Provincial Exam demonstrating their ability to be successful in multiple formats of exams.

Co-Curricular Achievements

All students at Meadowridge are supported as they strive to attain the Duke of Edinburgh Award. This graduating class had 11 students successfully completed the gold award requirements. Additionally, 13 students met the standards for Silver and 5 for Bronze bringing the overall participation rate to 62%. Additionally, our graduates were highly involved in team sports, CAS activities, and service opportunities.

Additionally, many of our graduates participated in our artistic events. Their contributions to plays, musicals, and art exhibits enhanced the entire school community. Their leadership, through acting, singing, stage management, or technology created productions that we are exceptionally proud of.

Congratulations to all 2018 Meadowridge graduates. Your tenacity, determination, and dedication have made us incredibly proud to call you our newest alumni. You are an outstanding group of young adults who fully embody our mission of learning to live well, with others and for others, in a just community. Yes, your academic achievements are outstanding, but more importantly your character and care for each other is inspiring.
