During the February Classroom Without Walls (CWOW) day, our Grade 8 Spanish and French students took their language studies beyond the classroom and into the kitchen!
In Spanish, students completed a Proyecto País ("Country Project"), researching a Spanish-speaking country, creating an informative poster, and preparing an authentic dish to share. The day began with a scavenger-hunt-style jigsaw activity, where students used their Spanish-speaking skills to present their countries and gather information from others. Their posters, filled with facts and cultural highlights, became key tools in this interactive learning experience.
Later, students showcased their culinary creations, complete with display cards naming the dish, country of origin, and key ingredients. From savoury to sweet, the spread reflected the diverse flavours of the Spanish-speaking world, proving that learning a language goes beyond words; it’s about experiencing culture, too.
Meanwhile, Grade 8 French students joined the culinary journey, exploring the art of making crêpes. From batter to pan, they embraced this classic French delicacy, adding a delicious touch to the day’s celebration.
