What goes on during a Meadowridge Pro-D?

On Friday, May 20, Meadowridge School welcomed Trevor Mackenzie as a keynote speaker for our professional development day. An experienced teacher, author and inquiry specialist, Trevor Mackenzie has worked in schools throughout the world to support teachers with developing, implementing, and reflecting on inquiry-based learning practices.

Inquiry-based learning is at the heart of IB education, which aims to engage learners by giving students agency and choice in their learning. This, in turn, amplifies student curiosity and connection, fostering deeper learning opportunities for our students.

Discussion topics included how to further cultivate and foster a culture of inquiry in our classrooms as well as insightful conversation around different types of inquiry learning. In collaborative teaching teams, teachers explored new ideas for provocations, questioning techniques, and visible thinking routines. Across the school, many of our students are already benefitting from the application of these strategies in their learning engagements.
