We are so excited to welcome you into the school for our student-led conferences in Grade 9 to 10 and student-parent-teacher conferences in Grade 11 to 12. Due to the different aspects of the MYP and DP programmes, these conferences will be conducted in slightly different manners.
Grade 9 to 10: Students have been working diligently to put a portfolio into place that will demonstrate their learning throughout the year. These portfolios are meant to showcase some key learning moments for students in each of their subject areas. They have completed a reflection on each learning opportunity. I encourage you to focus on the process of learning and not just the end result of a mark. As students engage in learning and understand how they learn best, they will flourish. Advisory teachers will be available to chat, but the primary aim is for students to take full responsibility for leading these conferences. Please refer to the MYP Parent’s Guide for Student-Led Conferences. There are some samples of open-ended questions to ask.
Grade 11 to 12: Students and parent will meet with individual teachers in 10-minute conferences. During this time the student’s voice will be central. They will speak about their learning in each subject. It is important for subject teachers to be present for these as they can also add information and context to the 2-year course that your child is involved in.
We look forward to seeing you at school on February 16.
