This year, the Parent Guild and the school are partnering with Uncle Vinny’s Toy Drive. This toy drive was started in 2021 by the Maan Family who unexpectedly lost their son, Vinny Maan, at the age of 35 on December 11, 2019. The Maan Family lived in Port Coquitlam and owned and operated the Mary Hill Market since 1988. Vinny attended Mary Hill Elementary and then Meadowridge School. He graduated from Meadowridge in 2002.
Vinny was a jolly, lighthearted, loving, generous, and kind soul. Vinny loved the holidays and especially loved making children happy by giving them treats or gifts, teaching them how to ride a bike or volunteering to coach a basketball team in the community. In 2021, Vinny’s family in BC and Toronto decided to start a toy drive to honor him in the best way possible, and carry on his legacy of generosity, love for children, and the holidays.
So, how can you help?:
- Please consider bringing an unused and unwrapped toy for the Toy Drive.
- Drop it off to one of the brightly wrapped collection boxes that are located around the school.
- Last day to donate: Monday, December 12 at 9:00am
Last year’s Toy Drive collected nearly 3,400 toys, with an estimated value at $32,000. The toys were distributed to many children across Canada. With your support and generosity, we can help to make the Second Annual Uncle Vinny’s Toy Drive a success!
