Earlier this month, a group of enthusiastic readers from Grades 4 and 5 represented Meadowridge in the Fraser Valley Regional Library’s Reading Link Challenge.
The Reading Link Challenge is an extracurricular program that runs weekly from November through March for students in Grades 4 and 5. Since November, participating students have been preparing for the competition by reading six novels and meeting regularly during their lunch hours to practice. Together, they explored each book in depth, discussing the setting, characters, plotlines, and even the smallest details. A total of eight teams competed in the challenge, answering multiple-choice, true-or-false, and short-answer questions based on the books they had read.
Congratulations to the winning Meadowridge team, The Flaming Phoenixes: Amyn, Jamie, Katherine, Lan, and Sirat. Their strong teamwork and dedication earned them a place in the next round of the competition.
The team will move on to the next level on April 15, where they will compete against schools from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. We wish them the best of luck as they continue the Reading Link Challenge.
