Meadowridge Student Since
Grade 5

Tell us about your time at Meadowridge and the connections you’ve made.

My time here has given me opportunities to learn and participate in extra-curricular activities which have helped me grow as a person. I was involved in robotics, in debate, I started a K-Pop Dance Club, and was the emcee for this past Lunar New Year assembly where I wrote and edited the script and shared a part of my culture with our community. I’m surrounded by friends and teachers whom I’m comfortable with asking for help and who have supported me with studying and with challenging university applications. Having my supportive network, especially in DP has been so important.

What do you want to be remembered for as a Meadowridge student?

As someone who goes out of the way to accomplish the things I want. I take risks and try things that are outside of my comfort zone. I aspire to be a leader (though I’m not there yet, but I will be one day!).

What will you always remember?

The tight community that Meadowridge is. Our school is so small (compared to where I’m going) and because of this, it’s been easy to bond with others around me. I’ll probably never experience this again because I’m going to a big school, but I’m grateful for my time here with the people around me. It will take a lot of getting used to not seeing all the familiar faces every day and it’ll be a new experience normalizing seeing new faces I don’t recognize at university.

What are you looking forward to in the years ahead?

Living in New York and learning from the diversity of perspectives around me, and the opinions and views that I’m not used to. Gaining independence and learning to be on my own. I’m excited to take on internships and step into an age where I’ll be pushing myself more to achieve my goals. I’ll be able to get better at things and do things that I want to. I look forward to taking some artistic classes focused on music and photography and learning how to code.

What are you pursuing in university? Any goals?

I’m studying Business at NYU. I hope to take on undergraduate research opportunities to get to know and work with some of the professors and to situate myself and my study interests. I want to start a YouTube channel over the summer as I transition to university and become a study blogger and leverage my experiences as an NYU student. I’ve always wanted to design my own place, so I would love to have an apartment of my own in my second year and do the interior decorating and design for it. My dream is to start a company. I’m not yet sure what it entails, but all I know is that I want to be the CEO of my own company.

How did you make your decision on studying Business at NYU?

The field of business is applicable to many fields. Considering the career possibilities in business and my love for travelling, NYU was the best choice for me. The school has partnerships with universities all over the world that I’ve considered, allowing me to study abroad or do an exchange in various countries. I want to thank Ms. Chen’s guidance and support with my application to NYU!

Any parting words of wisdom for our Meadowridge Community?

I’ll keep it short and simple. There’s no shortcut; DP will award you with the effort you put into it.
