How long does the challenge run?
April 24th to May 24th

What is the challenge and how do students participate?

  • First and foremost, this challenge should be fun and lighthearted. When and how you complete your 20 minutes is up to you!
  • Read (or be read to) for 20 minutes on any given day. Your challenge is to work up to accumulating 100 minutes. (Our younger learners will want to break the time up into smaller age appropriate chunks)
  • When a student reads (or is read to) for at least 20 minutes on any given day, they write it on their reading record – parent(s)/guardian(s) sign each entry. Reading records can be found on our library website.
  • Students may only record one 20-minute entry per day, regardless of how long they have read for that day
  • Once the reading record has been completed (every 100 minutes), the student or family sends Mrs. Storgaard a photo or word document attachment of the reading record to christal.storgaard@meadowridge.bc.ca. House totals will be sent to Mr. Schofield.

What are the rewards for completing a reading record?

After every 100 minutes of reading, students receive 5 house points, special recognition on the Meadowridge Library website and a virtual Meadowridge Library At-Home Reading Challenge certificate of achievement.
