A look back at February’s Student-Led Conferences

Student-Led Conferences are one of our favourite times of the year. At our most recent Student-Led Conference on February 16, we welcomed parents on campus and into the classrooms so our students could become leaders and proudly share some of their classroom work.

For our Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5 students, they reflected on their learning as they develop the Learner Profiles and Approaches to Learning. Students showcase their learning, growth, and future goals.

Parents listen intently as their child highlights their work, ask open-ended questions, and celebrate learning successes together.

For our older students in Grades 6 to 12, the conferences are structured slightly differently. Grade 6 to 10 students presented portfolios that demonstrated their learning throughout the year and highlight some key learning moments of learning. Parents asked questions and learned more about their children’s projects, passions, and the processes involved in the learning.

Grade 11 to 12 students met with individual teachers with 10-minute conferences, where the students’ voices are central, and they shared their learning outcomes in each subject with their parents. Teachers were there to provide insight as to what the last few years of the students’ journeys will be like.
