A Well-Rounded Craft

In Meadowridge School's newly developed Arts Centre, Grade 8 students are immersed in an interdisciplinary project that combines IB Design, Visual Arts, and Music. They are building, adorning, and playing guitars and improving their hands-on skills.

The students began in Design by studying acoustics and selecting materials, which helped them better plan their guitar designs. They then honed their woodworking techniques in the school’s Design Lab, gaining practical experience in construction.

Next, students will bring their artistic visions to life by decorating and painting their guitars in Visual Art class. Finally, students will learn to intonate, tune, and prepare their instruments for a performance at an upcoming assembly.

This cohesive project highlights Meadowridge’s commitment to fostering innovation and creative expression. By blending technical skills with creativity, students prepare for future endeavours, including the MYP personal project, while demonstrating the school’s holistic, interdisciplinary learning approach.
