Right before spring break, 34 Grade 4 and 5 students competed in the Fraser Valley Regional Library’s Reading Link Challenge. These students have worked hard since early in the school year to prepare for the competition. This was not an easy task as they read six novels, gave up their lunch hours and worked together to learn as much as possible about the books: including the settings, characters, plots, and the most minuscule of details. There was a total of six teams competing against one another as they answered multiple choice, true or false, and short answer questions about the books they read.
The winning team was all Grade Four students: Angelia Q., Diya G., Maya S., Wesley H., and Zoey M. The ‘Timbit Catz’, as the winning team calls themselves, will continue on to the next level of the competition on April 14, where they will compete against other schools from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. We wish them the best of luck in the next level of the Reading Link Competition!
