Grade 4 food drive: let’s build “walls against hunger”

A letter from Grade 4 – Let's help build "Walls Against Hunger". In these difficult times, we would like to help those less fortunate in our community. Please help support our local food bank "Friends in Need".

We challenge every Elementary student to donate at least five non-perishable food items (canned or boxed items--no glass please!). For example, canned tuna and salmon, soup, stew, spaghetti sauce, pasta, crackers, cereal, tetra pack juice boxes, canned vegetables and fruit. Canned meats are very much appreciated, as they have a high protein count, as well as canned fruits.

Your child may bring the donated items to our classroom during the week of October 13. The final date for donations will be Tuesday, October 20. This day will be a non-uniform day to recognize organizations that help others. On October 20, grade levels will build their portion of the wall. Let's see who can build the tallest section!

In addition, we have an online donation form for Friends In Need Food Bank.  For every $5 donation, a “paper brick” with your name will be issued. The paper brick can be added to the “Walls Against Hunger”.

Together, we can make a difference.
