On Wednesday, March 5, a group of avid readers from Grades 4 and 5 competed in the Fraser Valley Regional Library’s Reading Link Challenge.
These students have worked hard since November to prepare for the competition. It was not easy, as they read six novels, gave up their lunch hours to practice, and worked together to learn as much as possible about each book, including the setting, characters, plots, and minuscule details.
Eight teams competed against one another as they answered multiple choice, true or false and short answer questions about the books they read. The winning team, The Highlighters, is a group of Grade 5 students: Alya, Duma, Emily, Klaus and Madison. Their team motto is: “Each team member plays an important role in each book!” These rockstar readers will move to the next level of the competition on April 9, where they will compete against other schools from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. We wish them the best of luck in the next level of the Reading Link Competition.
