This past weekend, over 60 high school students competed at the FTC Robotics Championships. Meadowridge’s seven teams all represented themselves and the school very well.
Entradox, a team of Grade 11 students placed 6th overall and were selected for and participated in the semi-finals and were runners-up for the outreach award. Part of their outreach this year was mentoring a Ghanian team over Zoom.
Grace Y. (Grade 11) was selected as a finalist for the Dean’s List and has been invited to attend the Worlds event in Texas in April!
None of these memorable experiences and impressive accomplishments would be possible without the dedication Ms. Carrie Mohoruk has put in over the past several years. It has been remarkable to see the commitment with which students have immersed themselves in researching, coding, and building - always with Ms. Mohoruk learning alongside them, quite literally. Thank you also to Dr. Dale Stevenson, Ms. Natalie Jacus, Mr. Drew Wheeler and Ms. Stephanie Kinneard for coaching our teams. Thank you to Ms. Cathy White for stepping in to help on Saturday.
While the Robotics tournament was going on we also had a team competing at the Law Foundation Cup - BC Debate Provincials. Kiyana S. and Jasmine Z. (Grade 8) acquitted themselves well and will be a very strong team in the years to come. Way to Go Gryphons!
