Over the weekend, Rico X. and Wilson H. (Grade 11) organized and hosted 92 debaters, 23 judges, parents and coaches at our annual student-led debate tournament.
Congratulations to them on a very successful tournament, and thank you to the wonderful parents who supported them throughout the weekend. The MSDT was founded in 2021 by alumni Akira Yoshiyama ’23, Peter Yin ’23, and Isabella Zhang ’23 to fill a need in the province's debate circuit: experienced judges providing specific feedback for learning and growth. The MSDT was held as an online competition until 2024, when Kiyana S. and Jasmine Z. (Grade 12) hosted the first in-person iteration. This year was our second in-person event, welcoming both new and seasoned debaters from around the Lower Mainland, including six Meadowridge teams. Congratulations to Grade 8 students Wesley H. and Gabriel J., for placing in the top 10 overall!
