Canadian Fencing National Championships

Eight Meadowridge Students Make their
Mark at the National Level

Eight Meadowridge students headed to St. Catherine's, Ontario over the weekend to compete in the Canadian Fencing National Championships. This year's Championships welcomed over 600 fencers from across Canada, and we are proud to have had eight competitors representing our school. Each of these talented students got their start with the Meadowridge Fencing Club and with coaches Gareth Mason, Theodora Runtova, and Hristo Etropolski. Several of our students also continued their training with other clubs, including the Tri-City Fencing Academy, Dynamo Fencing Club, North Vancouver Fencing Club, La Salle Fencing Club, and Antaean Fencing Club.

Sabrina F. (Grade 7) had an outstanding weekend and was awarded the gold medal in U15 Women's Foil and a bronze medal in Junior Woman's Foil. She also placed 6th in Cadet Women's Foil. Joe G. (Grade 8) earned a gold medal in U15 Men's Epee.

All of our fencers fenced in at least one category that was beyond their age group which has older and more experienced fencers.

Please congratulate our fencers when you see them for their outstanding efforts and decorum at the 2018 Canadian National Fencing Championships:
