A Night for Education

Meadowridge Students Raise $2,500 to
Furnish a Classroom in Kenya

The Global Citizenship Club's (GCC) Benefit Concert, A Night for Education, took place on Friday night. GCC students have been working tirelessly in their attempt to raise $2,000 to furnish a classroom in Kenya and provide all students with lunches for a year.

Our goal was something that inspired students to continue their hard work in the club because each and every student understood the importance of education in their own lives.

The Benefit Concert is an annual Meadowridge event, and each year our community comes together to support a cause put forward by the GCC. This year, our focus was on the pillar of Education for the Me to We Organization. Our goal was something that inspired students to continue their hard work in the club because each and every student understood the importance of education in their own lives.

The Benefit Concert was open to our entire school community, from parents to staff. The evening included a range of student performances, from a hip-hop routine performed by Dance Club to a classical piano piece by Grade 12 student Catherine L. Throughout the night we had various raffles for gift cards, as well as an array of bake sale items for purchase. What really made this year different to the others was that we had beautiful items from Kenya as well as a huge toy house sponsored by Mastermind Toys, a photo session sponsored by Alan Bailward Photography, and a stunning pearl necklace sponsored by Atul Johari, on auction.

The incredible amount of planning and hard work that this event required was all worth it when we realized that we raised $1,137 that evening and met our year end goal by raising a total of over $2500 for our cause.

The sun was shining outside, and everyone was able to enjoy the performances, food, and things for sale. The incredible amount of planning and hard work that this event required was all worth it when we realized that we raised $1,137 that evening and met our year end goal by raising a total of over $2500 for our cause. I would like to thank everyone who attended and participated in all the events that the Me to We club has organized throughout the year and for attending the Benefit Concert.
