British Columbia Regional History & Geography Bee and Bowl
Students Earn a Top
Four Finish in BC

Practices began back in January, with our students meeting once a week in Mr. Lockhart's classroom for fast-paced exercises and training. "The students were extremely dedicated," Mr. Lockhart notes, "and would meet even when I had other engagements." Since the competition would quiz kids on questions all-things Geography and History—not just the things covered in the Grade 10 curriculum—there was a lot to cover. For nearly two months students trained and got ready, and the day of the competition soon arrived.

"It was an intense day, with students shuffling from back-to-back sessions in rounds against nine other teams. Beginning at ten and ending past five, it was a long day—but a long day well worth it."

It was an intense day, with students shuffling from back-to-back sessions in rounds against nine other teams. Beginning at ten and ending past five, it was a long day—but a long day well worth it: our team of six placed fourth overall in the History Bowl, earning eligibility to compete at the nationals and one student, Joey S., placed third in the Geography and History Bee and earned his own individual eligibility.

Congratulations to Oliver G., Pawel P., Jason Z., Sunny Y., Riya L. and Joey S. for this wonderful achievement!
