High School Start-Up Information

I know that this year brings with it different feelings and emotions, but I want to reassure you that we have worked diligently to not lose the care and “family feel” of Meadowridge as we enter a new phase of teaching and learning in this challenging time. As always, the health and safety of our community is our top priority. Ms. Kristal Bereza, High School Principal

What is a learning cohort and how will it help?

A learning group, or learning cohort, is a group of students and staff who remain together throughout the school quarter, semester or year and who primarily interact with each other. This helps with contact tracing and limits interruptions to learning if a case of COVID-19 is confirmed in a learning group. Learning groups were recommended by the Provincial Health Officer to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19. Learning groups are smallest in elementary and middle schools because it is more challenging for younger students to maintain physical distance. Students in secondary school are better able to minimize physical contact, practice hand hygiene and recognize if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.” BC Back to School Plan
