Our Regenerative Sustainability Plan presents our holistic approach to this strategic initiative, weaving environmental stewardship into every facet of our school’s education, operations, and culture over the next five years.
Our work is guided by the following values, that state that:

Through the actions outlined in this plan, we will cultivate a generation of learners who are equipped with the knowledge and skills to drive meaningful change, while encouraging the Meadowridge community, as a whole, to participate in our journey towards a more sustainable and just future.

We will incorporate Regenerative Sustainability into decision making processes, taking responsibility for our impacts, and reporting transparently on our progress.
Preparing the Plan
In Our Vision, Our Plan, Our Future 2023 to 2028 Strategic Plan, Meadowridge School laid out our commitment to support our school community in learning to live well, with others and for others, in a just community. We are committed, as a school, to providing meaningful outdoor experiences to inspire our students to become advocates and stewards of the land by building an appreciation and a deep connection to our natural environment.
Meadowridge’s Regenerative Sustainability Plan is the result of a collaborative effort with our Meadowridge community. Following the success of our Eco Literacy campaign, and after finalizing our Strategic Plan, our Director of Environment and Risk led the development this plan. Working with Sustainability and Climate Action consultants, we engaged the Board, our leadership team, teachers, staff, students, parents, and alumni through a variety of initiatives to shape our Regenerative Sustainability Plan, including:

Corporate GHG emissions inventory
A corporate GHG emissions inventory to quantify the carbon impact of Meadowridge’s operations for the 2022-2023 school year and identifying the biggest sources of emissions from the School’s operations.
A student and staff survey
A student and staff survey for insights regarding the Meadowridge Community’s understanding and awareness of Regenerative Sustainability, to include stakeholders in the development of the plan, and to provide an opportunity for the community to share their ideas for Regenerative Sustainability.
Workshops, meetings, and conversations
Workshops, meetings, and conversations with Meadowridge’s Regenerative Sustainability Committee, Leadership Team, Board, and parents to ensure that the plan encompasses key outcomes and actions that the School has committed to achieve.
