Come fall, the Class of 2024 will be heading out across Canada, the United States, and the world. As they embark on their next journey, we asked them to reflect on their time at Meadowridge, the things they will miss, and the moments they will never forget.
Shifa Ali
University of Nottingham Medicine
At Meadowridge, I learned… The most significant thing I learned was resilience. During these last two years especially, there were times I didn’t meet my expectations and struggled to stay on track. At this time, Mr. Lockhart told me to be proactive, not reactive, and despite being hard to hear, it changed my outlook. I am grateful to many different people, but teachers helped me achieve my goals.

At Meadowridge, I learned… I didn’t just acquire knowledge in class and about my chosen subjects. I gained a crucial skill that will shape my future and help me reach my goals: how to study effectively. I came to understand that the purpose of studying and learning extends beyond performing well on tests; it’s about grasping the material thoroughly for its practical value in the future.
Brooklyn Coates
University of North Carolina Wilmington Psychology
Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… being a Grade 12 buddy. I’ve been at Meadowridge since Kindergarten, so I’ve experienced both sides. I still remember when my own Grade 12 buddy came back to Meadowridge and taught us as a student teacher. It was such a highlight. Now, I love spending time with my Kinderbuddy and will always remember our visits.
Quinn Davison
Queen’s University Health Science
At Meadowridge, I learned… the importance of having a balanced lifestyle. Due to the academic workload, it would have been easy to focus only on academics and be unbalanced. However, Meadowridge taught me the importance of maintaining my sport and developing creative outlets to keep balance in my life.
Ryan Dhaliwal
Queen’s University Science
For me, Meadowridge is… a place I have been going to every day from eight in the morning to three in the afternoon for 13 years. It’s a place that has shaped me. During my time here, I’ve been able to see the evolution of the school. I remember going through the North Forest long before it had trails—that was a fun experience!
Victoria Doong
University of California, Irvine Business Administration
At Meadowridge, I learned… how to live in a community of lovely and encouraging people while contributing my strengths to make it a better place. As an IB student, I exercised my time management and critical-thinking skills. As a badminton student coach, I learned to be a leader and the importance of taking initiative. As a friend, I realized the unquantifiable value of friendship. Meadowridge is a place where learning and teaching exist simultaneously and harmonically. We are all learners, and we are all mentors.
Gaëlen Auffrédou-Heinicke
Western University Creative Arts and Production
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… the countless trips I took with friends, from visiting Spain and exploring the city to camping at Loon Lake, where we spent the evenings talking outside.
Violet Chen
University of Washington College of Arts &
Sciences, Natural Sciences, Physics
At Meadowridge, I learned… the skills necessary for formal projects and maintaining interpersonal relationships. All the teachers are knowledgeable and provide insightful suggestions in and out of the classroom. Although we often complain about the high rigour of the curriculum, the DP experience at Meadowridge truly shapes who we are and how we work for the better.
Joel Crasto
University of Waterloo Computer Engineering
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… the many nights working through the challenging DP curriculum and the many late days after school spent working on building and programming our team’s robot and my Physics Extended Essay apparatus. Despite all the challenges, Meadowridge allowed me to pursue the most rigorous high school curriculum in the world, allowing me to go deeper into my STEM interests while having the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extracurriculars and trips.
Zaafir Devji
University of Victoria Theatre
When I joined Meadowridge, I never expected… to make such meaningful and fulfilling connections with my peers and teachers. When I joined Meadowridge, I was welcomed with open arms and constructive criticism. At the beginning of my academic journey, I struggled, but as I progressed through the year, my knowledge improved as well. Teachers and fellow students have helped me through this journey and have made the school my second home.
Dacian Domide
University of Victoria Science
A Meadowridge experience that shaped me is… Our Grade 10 WWOW trip up the Indian Arm. This trip was undoubtedly a significant bonding experience for our grade, as we canoed in groups through sun and hail, prepared our own meals, hiked to the top of a waterfall, talked with one another and became friends with people we had never spoken with before. This created a memory none of us will ever forget.
Sarah Duan
University of British Columbia Science One
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. From struggling through my Extended Essay to my Math Internal Assessment, I learned a lot. During these experiences, I conducted my own research and designed my own experiment. I had no idea what a “scientist” was, but now I do. I now plan to pursue research and do much more of it.
“It’s felt as if I have a second family of people whom I’m excited to see each and every day. I never thought I could feel this way about school.”
Sivani Edpuganti

For me, Meadowridge is… a community that allowed me to grow as a person not only academically but also socially. It provided me with friends that will last a lifetime and high school memories that I will cherish forever.
Gurleen Grewal
University of Victoria Social Science - Political Science
When I joined Meadowridge, I never expected… to be a part of such a close-knit community. A positive and supportive environment during the Diploma Programme has helped me succeed. I also learned independence—although I have a great support system, I know it is up to me to achieve my goals. Being part of a community as uplifting as Meadowridge has been a privilege.
Henson Han
Western University Management and Organizational Studies
At Meadowridge, I learned… time management, an important skill for balancing schoolwork with the extra-curricular activities that helped me get through the Diploma Programme. I also learned how to take notes and study effectively, which has and will continue to help me in university.
Yassin Hussein
Western University Social Science - Psychology
A Meadowridge experience that shaped me is… my chemistry class. I struggled for the first two to three months, but my teacher pushed me through and helped me. Another experience that shaped me was my time on the basketball team. I decided to join during my last year—I figured, why not?—and I’m glad I did. My coaches made me fall in love with the sport and I still play recreationally. The WWOW trip to Loon Lake also shaped me as it got me closer to not just my friends but also my brother and his friends.
Megan Leger
Kwantlen Polytechnique University Fine Arts
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… The Indian Arm Week Without Walls trip. Being able to live off the land, without a phone and with your friends, was such a unique experience. I’ll never forget falling asleep on the hammock for three hours after the long paddle there.
Eva Liu
Vanderbilt University Biochemistry and Chemical Biology
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… my trebuchet project in Grades 8 and 9 Design . I chose a complicated floating arm trebuchet that didn’t work at all. It went backwards, not forwards. After spending a lot of time after school working on the trebuchet with my partner (we were determined!), we broke the record. The design class was exciting, and I used my hands and brain like never before. It was my favourite class.
Leia Oleksyn
University of British Columbia Arts
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… the experiences I have had with my peers. From going on adventurous hikes on WWOW trips to various Model UN conferences, I have formed strong relationships with many of my fellow graduates. I know I will always look fondly at my time with them.
Lucas Peng
University of British Columbia Biomedical Engineering
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… the trip to Spain. This was my first-ever experience travelling to a new country to put my language skills to use. It was exciting to experience a new culture. We visited a football stadium, saw religious sites, admired the architecture, and ate different foods. Spain has a slower pace of life and is calm and relaxing. It was one of my best memories and a great bonding experience.
Carter Germain
Allen Community College Pre-Medicine
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… Playing basketball, especially with my teammates whom I have played with since Grade 6. Over the years, we’ve developed as a team and made it to provincials. I’ll never forget the first game and playing in front of a packed stadium. I’ve been at Meadowridge my whole life and enjoyed the entire time.
Yilu Guo
OCAD University Experimental Illustration
At Meadowridge, I learned… the importance of connecting with people. It’s nice to learn with and spend time with others. I also learned about time management and how to stay calm when dealing with stress, which helps me significantly when I’m on my own. However, I will sometimes mess up trying to think in those ways. Because of Meadowridge, I also learned how to reflect upon my behaviours and actions to improve them.
Mackenzie Hui
University of British Columbia Science
For me, Meadowridge is… like a second home. After 12 years here, I’ve grown to appreciate the things that set this community apart. The teachers and staff who that were once strangers have become my mentors and emotional support. The hallways that once taunted me became ones that I’ll relish forever. Meadowridge has helped shape me into the person I am today through the support from teachers and staff, the times on the fields or the court, and the students that surround me every day, and I will be forever grateful.
Rebecca Khalil
University of British Columbia Kinesiology
A Meadowridge experience that shaped me is… the robotics team. I never expected to join a robotics team—it’s not something I have experience in!—but Ms. Mohoruk encouraged me, and I’m so glad I signed up. I learned to code, became team manager, and made new friends. More than that, I stepped out of my comfort zone and learned skills that I will carry with me to university.
David Li
Western University Creative Arts and Production
At Meadowridge, I learned… appreciation towards my family. They are the ones who made me who I am today and provided me with an opportunity to go to this school and become who I want to be in the future. Second, I learned to appreciate my friends for being there for me and bringing me joy. We share too many memories that I cannot even count with a definite number.
Ria Nagai
University of Waterloo Geography and Aviation
A Meadowridge experience that shaped me is… badminton coaching is a big part of my Meadowridge experience. It was nerve-wracking at first, but I ended up enjoying it. At first, I was trying to figure out how to coach and help the students, but I grew more comfortable as time passed. I stepped outside my comfort zone and tried something new, which was terrific. (Everyone should join badminton!)
Zahrah Parker
Simon Fraser University Beedie School of Business
When I joined Meadowridge, I never expected… to become such an academically well-rounded student. I had always looked at the students in Grade 12 and never understood how they could do these intense exams which determine the university they go to. As I went through middle and high school, I realized I had grown academically and learned so much. The Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay, and the IB courses have prepared me for what university will bring. I am confident that university will be much more enjoyable with these skills.
Sam Pitzey
University of Victoria Social Science
For me, Meadowridge is… a school where everyone in the grade knows each other and helps one another to do well academically and socially. Meadowridge has helped me to understand the priorities of what I should be doing to create a better future for myself.
“Being part of a community as uplifting as Meadowridge has been a privilege.”
Gracie Prevedello
Simon Fraser University Arts & Social Science - Psychology
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… all the memories I made throughout my last year, participating in things like senior skip day, senior sunrise, and the senior prank that we all set up on the last day of school, not to mention all the fun memories that I made with friends, new friends, and during extracurricular activities.
Nathan Randhawa
University of Victoria Social Science - Economics
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… when we made it to provincials for basketball. It was a fantastic experience that I didn’t think we’d get to have. I still remember the qualifying game when we realized we would make it to provincials. At provincials, I’ll never forget the energy and all the fans who showed up to cheer us on.
Vylet Schultz-Williams
Dalhousie University Science
A Meadowridge experience that shaped me was… my personal project. My project topic, investigating intergenerational trauma in residential school survivors’ families, allowed me to explore personal interests and eventually led me to take on a significant role in social justice in the school community. I was able to speak about my project in a whole school assembly and share what I learned and how important it was to me to share the voices of others in a greater community.
Amy Shen
University of British Columbia Arts - Cognitive Systems and Psychology
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget... going to Ms. West’s room, our Grade 8 teacher, and hanging out. It was a safe space for my friends and me, and we loved to visit her whenever we could. When I joined Meadowridge, I never expected to create my art for the DP fine art exhibition. When I was younger, I loved seeing what new artwork would be exhibited each year. At a young age, I was always passionate about art, and seeing my work being displayed now is still unfathomable to me.
Ellie Ramsay
Capilano University Arts - General Program
During my time at Meadowridge, I will never forget… all the camping trips we went on, from Timberline Ranch in Grade 3 to all of the Loon Lake trips later on. These trips have shaped how our grades interact and how close we have all become. My favourite trip was to Indian Arm. The long hours of canoeing were exhausting, but the trip was fun and allowed me to get closer to my second family.
Aryaan Ray
University of Waterloo Mechatronics Engineering
When I joined Meadowridge, I never expected… to have so much fun during trips and robotics. During WWOW, I shared a room with my friends, and had fun doing dumb stuff (while following the school rules, of course) and laughing our butts off! For robotics, I never expected we would make it to provincials and win the Winning Alliance Award (neither did Ms. Mohoruk, I think). We were overjoyed when our team somehow won using coat hangers as a hanging system and a dustpan and broom to pick up tiles.
Ishan Shah
University of Ottawa Health Sciences
When I joined Meadowridge, I never expected… the interconnected community of teachers, peers, and families that exists at the school. For the eight years I’ve spent at Meadowridge, it’s felt like I have a second family of people whom I’m excited to see each and every day. I never thought I could feel this way about school, but the environment and people surrounding me have helped me develop an appreciation for the opportunity to be here.
Rachel Sherling
University of Victoria Social Science
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget.. my first year in the fourth grade when I played four squares with my friends and the trips we went on. All the trips will be memories I will cherish forever. Over my nine years at Meadowridge, the field trips have only brought us closer together. From Drumheller to Victoria, the stories are endless. Even though our grade has different groups within, somehow playing volleyball or full-grade manhunt always brought us back together.
“Teachers and fellow students have helped me through this journey and have made the school my second home.”
Cameron Spika
Vancouver Island University Business Administration
At Meadowridge, I never expected to… widen my range of experiences. I developed many skills and hobbies that I never imagined I would. I was given many opportunities to improve myself and was provided so much support whenever needed. Meadowridge always put me in a place to succeed while ensuring I never stopped growing or become complacent. I never expected such a connected community, which encourages so much diversity in learning. I am so grateful for all the members of this community who created such a vibrant and educational atmosphere.
Maryam Tahir
University of British Columbia Arts (B+MM) - International Relations
When I joined Meadowridge, I never expected… to join a welcoming community with students who are eager to learn and be friends. I realized that Meadowridge was a close-knit community when I bought a bag of chips, and everyone would help themselves to the bag. I noticed the difference when everyone was immediately close to me and when I had to buy a bigger bag of chips!
Sanjana Vijayarajah
Griffith University Medicine
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… the long hike during our Indian Arm Week Without Walls trip or the long conversations during our Loon Lake trips. Through these experiences, I became much closer to my friends and got to know new people.
Omer Wasti
University of British Columbia - Okanagan Health and Exercise Science
During my time at Meadowridge, I learned… about respect, relationships, and self-management. We are always encouraged to treat each other equally, from our teachers to our classmates. With respect come relationships, and looking back on my Meadowridge experience, I have built many relationships with all kinds of people through academics, athletics, and more. Overall, Meadowridge taught me more than just academics. It taught me how to be respectful, friendly, and responsible.

During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… when COVID-19 hit us in Grade 8. I remember all the cringy TikToks we made whenever we saw each other at school. I will also not forget when we made Halloween videos in Grade 6. It’s wild to think all this happened four years ago; I remember looking up to the grade 10s and thinking about how it would still be a long time before I got there. But now that I’m graduating, everything has flown by so quickly.
Christina Sun
University of Toronto - St. George Humanities
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… those moments when my friends and I laughed together and created unforgettable memories that shaped our bond. Whether it was late-night study sessions, cheering each other on, or simply sharing jokes during lunch breaks. I am proud of pushing my limits, breaking boundaries, utilizing my dance talent and sharing it with those around me. These experiences have shaped me into a confident and capable leader, ready to take on new challenges in this big wide world and make lasting memories wherever I go.
Rohan Vaish

A Meadowridge experience that shaped me was… starting and leading the school’s inaugural ski club. Bringing students out on the ski hill and outside the classroom elevated my leadership and confidence. I also enjoyed teaching my classmates how to ski on the bunny hill. Those first few times are usually the hardest, but I enjoyed imparting my knowledge and adapting to each student’s experience and abilities.
Kevin Wang
University of British Columbia - Okanagan Arts (B+MM) - Psychology
To me, Meadowridge is… my friends and my relationships with other people here. An experience I’ll never forget was the Indian Arm trip. Although it wasn’t that thrilling or creative, I had an unforgettable time. I will remember some of the conversations we had forever, which really unlocked me as a communicator. I could see situations from several perspectives. The trip wasn’t the best trip I ever had, nor the most enjoyable, but its authenticity and emotional moments made it so memorable.
Natalie Xi
New York University Liberal Studies
During my time at Meadowridge, I’ll never forget… our Tuesday breakfast tradition in Grade 11 art. It was our first class of the day, so Ms. Laurie invited us to bring some breakfast to share, and we sat around, chatted, and caught up. Sometimes, we would talk about art—in class, in life—and other times, we would catch up. I always brought in Chinese items like sesame balls or steam buns. My other classmates brought cereal, Timbits, granola bars, or bakery items. I will never forget these mornings.

For me, Meadowridge is… equivalent to my second home. It is a place where I’ve had many firsts: my first time attending a school for over a decade, immersing myself in an international education, and making so many connections with friends, teachers, staff, and other community members. Most importantly, Meadowridge has provided me with a safe and supportive space to grow, not just academically but holistically as a person. It allowed me to gain countless soft skills that will serve me well wherever I end up in life.
